High Five for Friday

How in the heck is it Friday already?!  I'm just thankful this week FLEW by, but this weekend will be full of CPA exam prep.  :-)  Only a few more months to go, think 10.  Haha.

Let's see...

1.  I got the approval from the state board to actually REGISTER for the first section of the CPA exam.  I'm hoping to get a date towards the end of May, but we'll see what happens.

2.  Do you see these two?  I'm beginning to wonder why they keep me around.  LOL.

3.  We finally got bar stools for our kitchen this week.  Purchased 4, but 2 of them are going to one of my best friend's houses.  I figure she'll get tired of them, and I can buy them back from her, so we can have 4 because we actually have room for 4 at our bar.  LOL.

4.  My rockin' sunburn finally started peeling yesterday.  I thought I'd get out without peeling, but I wasn't that lucky.  It's definitely not as bad as it usually is, so I consider that a Norwex win (see this post).

5.  We have ZERO plans this weekend!  Well, except some more Becker studying, but maybe, just maybe, we'll have time to straighten up the house, clean, and just enjoy the weekend.

Norwex

So all of you that read this blog (all 5 of you) know that I'm an incredibly BUSY person, so the time I spend on cleaning, organizing my house is limited.  LOL.  I mean, if I have a dirty kitchen, but get to spend more time studying for my CPA exam, I consider that a win.  A major win.   I'm also a little bit crunchy, in that I HATE cleaning with chemicals.  In fact, 99% of my cleaning products are vinegar, baking soda, Dawn dish soap, Mrs. Meyers, and water.

Recently - a dear friend, Shannon, started selling Norwex products.  A little skeptical at first, I did a bit of research and decided to give the products a try.  More than the products, I fell for the company.  Norwex really prides itself on cleaning and household products that do not contain harmful chemicals.  SIGN ME UP!  :-)

My first order consisted of the "Household Package" which includes a Enviro Cloth, a Window Cloth, and a Dust Mitt. When I received my order, I immediately got to cleaning. You see - Norwex products don't require additional cleaner.  Say what?!  No, FOR REAL.

I put on the Dust Mitt, like a glove, about once a week, and wipe down all of the surfaces in my house.  It takes maybe 10 minutes.  I use the window cloth, without water, to wipe down mirrors, our stainless steel fridge/microwave/etc.  Again, maybe another 10 minutes. Then I wipe down all the counter tops, etc. with a wet enviro cloth.  10 more minutes.  So, in 30 minutes, I've dusted, cleaned the counters, mirrors, etc.  30 MINUTES!  Do you know how long it used to take me before Norwex?  Much, much longer.

Here's how and WHY these products work:

From the Urban Homemaker:

Norwex Antibac Microfiber is one of the most innovative products in cleaning!  Unlike cotton cloths that will spread the dirt, grease and other particles around, Norwex Microfiber, when used wet, lifts these particles up into the cloth and away from the surface.  Once inside the cloth, the micro silver in the cloth goes to work with self purification properties against the mold, fungi and bacterial odor within 24 hours, so that it is ready to use again.

Now, imagine that my Norwex consultant offers a chance to try MORE Norwex products.  If you are anything like me, you jump on the chance.  Shannon sent me an Enviro body cloth, a sample of the Timeless Organics Shea Butter, and Timeless Natural Hand Cleaner.

In order to do these products justice - I'm going to review each product separately.

Enviro Body Cloth:

This product reminded me so much of the enviro cloth I already have that I use for household cleaning.  This product is incredibly soft, gentle on the skin, and does a fantastic job of leaving your body feeling clean.  I always wash my face first thing in the morning, and then again in the evening, and I used the body cloth to help aid in the process.  It has an antibacterial component which is great when you are putting this against your skin.  This product comes in some really CUTE colors.  And Norwex even has specialty clothes for BABY, for all of you expectant mommas out there.  :-)

Timeless Organics Shea Butter:

So, I think this is probably one of my favorite Norwex products thus far.  The shea butter comes out a little grainy when you first remove it from the container, but you heat up the product by putting some in the palm of your hand and blending it with your finger until it's smooth.  I have the DRIEST skin.  One of the ways that I personally used this product was that I put it on my heels and feet, and then went to bed wearing socks, to help keep the moisture against my skin.  In just a matter of days, I could already see a noticed improvement.  The unusual way I used this product is this.  On Saturday, I got a pretty nasty sunburn.  You know when you burn, and your skin begins to repair itself, you start to itch.  Well, once the pain of the sunburn went away, I started using the shea butter on the burn to put some of the moisture back into my skin.  It's been incredible.  So far, I haven't peeled, at all.  My skin is still pink, but it's healing nicely, and I don't have the intense itching.  As many times as I've been sunburned in the past, I swear that the difference in healing this time is due to this product.

Timeless Natural Hand Cleaner:

The last product Shannon sent me was the Timeless Hand Cleaner.  I stuck this item in my purse for those random uses during the day when you can't always get to a sink to wash your hands.  First of all, this product smells AMAZING.  I used it just this morning, and I've been able to smell it on my hands since then.  It has such a light, clean, fresh smell.  Coming from someone who has a major aversion to most smells, including perfumes, this is a great feature.  This product does not dry your hands out like the traditional anti-bacterial hand sanitizer.  Typically I have to follow up with lotion, and I haven't had to do that with this product.

Overall, I can't find a single negative thing to say about any of the Norwex products I've tried. I can't wait to try more of them!

For ALL of your Norwex needs - contact Shannon Bennett.  Healthy Shannon-igans on Facebook.  Or in Omaha, NE on the main Norwex page.

I agreed to post a review, and tell my friends about it.  So I'm going to do both!  I was no in way compensation for this review, but I was given the products.

Whew!

Time is totally slipping away from me.  I can't believe it's already April 22nd.  It seems like we were *JUST* celebrating Christmas and New Year's.  I can remember the times that my mom used to tell me to slow down, enjoy life, and enjoy being a kid.  I wish I had listened.  LOL.

I missed posting a Five for Friday post last week, so here it goes...

1.  Yay for a long weekend.  :-)

I'm one of the fortunate few to have Good Friday off work.  For me and my faith, Good Friday has a significant meaning.  Good Friday marks the day of the crucifixion of Jesus.  Easter Sunday is the day that we celebration the resurrection of Jesus, when Mary Magdalene found the tomb empty.

2.  Saturday is/was the Operation: A Taste of Home Car Show.  It was the first car show put on by Alex's cousin, Eve.  The turn out was fantastic.  She didn't raise as much money as she hoped, but she still did pretty well!  The next event is in July.

3.  We had our annual health fair at work on Thursday.  I had a 10 minute massage, and was told that if I don't come up with some way to eliminate stress from my life, I'm likely to be hospitalized.  Yay!  That sounds exciting.  LOL.  Needless to say, I've made the decision to postpone graduation (with my second Master's) until after I pass the CPA exam.  Trying to juggle two has been tough.

4.  We got to see our old neighbors and dear friends, M and S this weekend!  It was fantastic. I really miss living close to them.  Hopefully, they'll be moving our way soon!!  :-)

5.  I am officially *almost* 1/2 of the way through the Becker AUD review.  I just finished up the lecture for the 3rd section of 6.  Now, to get through the homework & the simulations.

High Five for Friday

Can you believe it's ALREADY Friday, again?!

As Fridays roll around, I'm always excited for a solid 48 hours spent at home, in my pajamas if I want to be, hanging with my loves, and just not having to worry about WORK.

So what awesome sauce things happened to YOU this week????

1.  I got my approval letter from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.  Basically, in order to sit for the CPA exam, you have to achieve a certain number of tasks, and then you are eligible to sit for the exam.  This letter basically states that I'm ready to study & sit for the exam.  Ekk!!

2.  I went to my first yoga class this week, and I absolutely LOVED it.  My brother's girlfriend, Megan, and I are going to make it a weekly thing.  The stress relief was fantastic.  :-)

3.  I also went to my first chiro visit this week.  Megan is a Chiro Intern, and she needed the hours.  I needed an adjustment, or well, I thought I did.  We went through the overall first exam, and I found out that one of my hips doesn't move the way it's supposed to.  The good news is that she thinks she can fix it, and do you know what that means?  HOPEFULLY NO MORE HIP PAIN!!

4.  I made it through the first section of AUD with Becker.  Alive.  LOL.  But - I definitely realize how much work this is going to be.  While I knew it going into it, man, this Becker CPA review is NO joke.

5.  IT'S THE FREAKING WEEKEND!!  I'm meeting Lindsey and her mom, Becky, tomorrow to have a girl's lunch and do some baby registry!

High Five for Friday

I'm doing better, huh?!  You know, totally on a "schedule" and all.  Psht.  Really, I'm just having fun trying to document everything going on right now.

I really hope you ALL had a fantastic week.  We've had some bi-polar weather, but things are still much warmer here than they are in the rest of the world.  I hope none of you sustained any major damage after the storms last night.

1.  My little brother got the keys to his new place today.  Woo hoo for him being close!  Like, across the parking lot close.

2.  We have such a busy weekend ahead.  :o)  Dinner with some sweet friends we haven't seen in awhile and a concert tonight.  A wedding tomorrow.  Church on Sunday. Somewhere in there, I have to find time to finish up some homework and make a grocery store run.

3.  I finally finished the bunting for Eve's show in April.  I'm over two weeks early!  That's pretty good for me.

Next, to start on the decorations and such for Lindsey's baby shower.

4.  Becker starts Monday.  I'm terrified.  But so happy to start this journey!  :-)  CPA license, here I COME!

5.  I've been looking at houses online in Raleigh, NC.  I know that we'll be leaving Texas this time next year, and we're still trying to narrow down where it is exactly that we want to go.  Raleigh definitely ranks towards the top of our list.

April Goals

April is going to be I-N-S-A-N-E!  With Becker starting on 4/7, and still being in school as well, I'm going to be lucky if I make it through this month alive.

Again, I'm going to try to do my goals SMART.

Just for your info:
S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Attainable
R - Relevant
T - Time-Bound

HEALTH
1.  Do some sort of physical activity, 3x per week.  Goal date:  4/30/2014

HOME
1.  Hem curtains for living room.  Goal date:  4/12/2014  Completed:  4/12/2014
2.  Hang curtain rod & curtains for living room.  Goal date:  4/12/2014  So, yeah.  I kind of ran into a snag with this one.  Apparently, hanging the curtain rods within 6" of the window isn't going to be possible with the way the framing is done.  All I was left with is a GIGANTIC hole in the wall.  So this one is on hold until I can get to Lowe's, get some wall putty, and some paint to fix the hole.  Maybe by the end of the month?
3.  Hang IKEA shelves above desk, and organize the office space.  Goal date: 4/12/2014

PERSONAL
1.  Finish bunting for Eve.  Goal date:  4/17/2014  Completed:  4/2/2014
2.  Meet with Jeana to start baby shower planning.  Goal date:  4/25/2014
3.  Pick out fabric for baby shower decor.  Goal date:  4/30/2014
4.  Sew maxi skirt from knit fabric.  Goal date:  4/30/2014
5.  Start work on baby shower decor items.  Goal date:  4/30/2014

March Goals (Recap)

Welp - it's that time again, already!  I feel like my life is flashing before my eyes!  My primary focus this month was on getting ready for the Becker Review, as well as submitting my application of intent to the state board.  I accomplished both of those.  I won't say it's a completely successful month, but at least I managed to accomplish *something.*

HEALTH
1.  Create a work out plan.  Goal date: 3/15/2014
2.  Water, water, water.  80 ounces per day.  Track!  Goal date:  EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
